WinStar World Casino

Casino (also spelled Casin) is an Italian word for a clubhouse for men. Casinos are designed to stimulate gambling by making the atmosphere loud, light and exciting, and they offer a variety of gaming options. They also offer perks to gamblers who spend large amounts of money, such as free hotel rooms, food and show tickets. These perks are called comps.

Casinos employ many people to monitor and oversee the games, to prevent cheating and stealing. Security starts on the floor, where dealers keep their eyes on patrons and each other to ensure that everything goes as it should. They are trained to spot blatant cheating, such as palming cards or marking dice, and they have “higher-ups” who watch their work on video cameras. In some casinos, chips have built-in microchips to record their movements and the corresponding betting patterns, which are used for analysis.

Casino’s food is idiosyncratic and retro, with dishes like this bucatini that’s topped with a garlic pancetta crumble. The pasta is fine, but skip the brussels sprouts, which are bitter and mealy. For something more substantial, try the lemony whole roasted turbot or the filet mignon served on a brioche that’s coated in duck liver mousse. The desserts, such as the molten chocolate cake with raspberry coulis, are also decadent and impractical. Unlike other Vegas resorts, WinStar’s restaurants are not affiliated with big-name celebrities. But you’ll still find Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill and several other dining outlets, including a cafe that serves upscale Texas fare and a buffet with more than 150 selections.
